Toastmasters International is a worldwide non-profit organisation. Every Toastmasters club shares the same mission which is defined in the following mission statement:
The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
Frequent practise during our club meetings will help you to be more confident and persuasive when giving presentations. You will learn to formulate and convey your ideas and to effectively express yourself.
As a club member you will receive The Competent Communication Manual. It features 10 speech projects which will help you develop your speaking skills, one step at a time. An evaluator will give you feedback on your speech project. When you have finished all of the projects, you are eligible for a Competent Communicator certificate.
At Toastmasters, you can practise leadership skills by communication, teamwork, and accepting responsibility for the success of club meetings or activities.
If you want to follow this “leadership track” you will receive The Competent Leadership Manual. It features 10 projects, which you complete by serving in various club meeting roles. An evaluator will give you feedback on each project. When you have completed the manual, you are eligible for a Competent Leader certificate. If you wish, Toastmasters World Headquarters will send your employer a letter about your accomplishment.
